What we do
Michael Havelock began his coaching career in 1998 when he completed the ‘FA Junior Team Managers Award’ through his local school; since then he has continued to gain valuable experience and coaching qualifications. He founded Club Soccer in 2005, wanting to improve the level of coaching available for children in the North East of England.
Michael has been coaching in local youth soccer for the last 8 years, coaching U8, U9, U10, U11, U12 and U14 teams. He has also organised and delivered school holiday coaching programs for various soccer organisations throughout the North East. On top of this Michael gained international soccer experience, coaching on the west coast of America, during this time he directed and coached youth soccer camps in over 15 different towns and cities, experiencing the American fun soccer camp phenomenon. Michael was also one of the Lead coaches at the FC Seattle Academy in 2002, where he experienced the benefits of an academy system for youth players. WWW.FCSEATTLE.COM Upon returning to the UK, Michael continued to coach soccer at youth level. He realised that North East football coaching was not good enough and that youth players deserved better opportunities, regardless of their ability. Michael knew that children could benefit from his experience and he set up the Club Soccer Academy and Camps programs, each with different aims and benefits for its members. Club Soccer continues to improve and evolve, adapting to the changing needs of players and clubs, keeping Club Soccer at the pinnacle of Newcastle football for kids. Details of the clinics and courses available are in the courses section of this website. For the Course Lead Coach, Club Soccer coaches are qualified to a minimum of FA Level 2 and FA Level 1 for Assistant Coaches. All of our coaches are members of the FA Coaches Association and are educated in child protection and emergency aid and follow stringent Health and Safety policies, in line with the FA guidelines as well as having been through strict Criminal Records Bureau checks. We believe in providing safe and healthy environments for children to learn and improve through the Club Soccer experience.
